Top Tackle!

We're proud to annouce the opening of our brand new tackle shop here in Mequinenza. The range and quality of products available are world class, and have been picked especially to be effective on the Ebro.

We'll soon be launching our online tackle shop, www.bgstackle.com so you'll be able to get the best gear direct to your door throughout the whole of Europe.

What a Beauty!

Our full congratulations to BGS regular Ken Debenham on his absolutely magnificent Rio Segre whacker of 223 pounds. The lump heralded the start of what is shaping up to be an execellent start to the season.

Ken's tackle and skills were tested to the limit, especially as the river conditons weren't perfect. Ken (pictured on the right) was fishing with good friend and record holder Chris Trimmer (pictured left) and BGS guide Bodo Kunkel. The capture and full story has been reported in both the Angling Times and Anglers Mail.

Well done again from all at BGS and welcome to the 200lb club!

The O'Connor Angle

December saw the weather take a temporary turn for the worse, but Barry O'Connor didn't let that put him off. BGS were happy to play host to the writer for Carp-Talk as he pitted himself against the famous Ebro carp. Click here if you are interested in seeing how he got on during his stay.

We are looking forward to Barry's return later in the year.

Well Done Lads!

Many congratulations to Chris Hysett on the recent capture of his great catfish. The fish bottomed out 100 kilo scales and was his first ever cat! What a way to open his account. Chris, on the left in this photo, was fishing with his friends Dick Cheshire, Chris Cheshire and Steve Morgan when the rod was dragged over as the fish hit the bait. The cat was a real scrapper but they worked as a team, with the others helping to keep Chris from being dragged off his feet and into the Ebro! Despite the fact that they had never even seen a cat before, the group gloved the fish themselves, weighed and returned it safely to the river. That was a job well done. Look in our gallery for a larger image.

We hope to have you back with us at BGS very soon gentlemen.

Carpin’ On and a Competition Winner

BGS attended the ‘Carpin On’ show at the 5 Lakes venue in Essex. This was our first tentative step into the busy UK carp show scene, but it was enjoyed by the lads on the stand who reported a lot of interest from some great people.

The show was also a chance to catch up again with John Wilson who was extremely busily involved with the event himself. Despite this, he kindly agreed to make the draw for our ‘Win a Free Holiday’ competition (if you are reading this John, Jürgen returns your best wishes and wants to know when you are coming back to see us!) We had a few hundred entries, but the congratulations go to Mr. and Mrs. Murray who win the trip for two. Well done to you both – BGS sincerely hope that you have a great time and get to grapple with some of the monster fish that our part of the Rio Ebro is internationally famed for!
